Signs of Water Damage in Bathroom - Paradise Valley, AZ

A Bathroom is one of the most used rooms in a house. It’s constantly wet, with water running either in the sink, toilet, or shower. Because of this, it’s easy to miss any water leaks and damage.

-Musty Smell: Although the bathroom may seem dry with no apparent problems, always investigate any musty or moldy smells.

-Suspicious Walls, Paint, Wallpaper: a small leak in the wall can cause paint and wallpaper to peel and bubble. The drywall can become soggy and soft to the touch. It must be replaced to avoid mold growth.

-Damaged Floors: Although many bathroom floors are made to get wet, continued moisture below the flooring may cause cracking, buckling, and staining in the floor. Eventually it will become softer and may rot.

-Visible Mold: It’s normal to find spots of mold or mildew growing inside the shower enclosure. This can be easily removed and taken care of and is caused by the moist and warm temperatures from showering. Mold and Mildew that is located outside the bathing and showering area could be caused by a water leak. This can be harmful to health, and it is very important that the leak is fixed, mold removed, and it has the necessary drywall or baseboard removal.

-Ceilings: If the bathroom is upstairs, it may cause damage to the ceiling below it. Keep an eye out for water stains, softening drywall, or peeling paint.
